I’m curious about how many people have pets, what kind of pets and in what locations. Unfortunately, I’m not interested enough to do the research. Most of my neighbors here in Hawaii have dogs as pets. I rarely see cats.
This major category includes the following subcategories. Pets are big business, and I’m sure you could find something in this list to latch onto.
My parents and siblings had pets, both dogs and cats. I never had one, and I never will have one. People deserve that kind of attention, not animals. My parents’ home always had cats living as scavengers in the backyard. Even so, they were pretty tame because of all the children (including me) who would play with them at times. Now, at my compound in the Philippines, we have cats living as scavengers. They’re not tame at all.
There’s a lot of money involved with pet stores and places that specialize in animal care. PetSmart and Petco are two of the places that I’ve seen nearby. I became familiar with PetSmart when my daughter-in-law, Cathy, had a chiweenie (a chihuahua/dachshund dog breed) in the apartment. She had to give it away when her son was born.
